Electronic Countermeasures, known by its more accurate term “Technical Security Countermeasures”, or TSCM, is accomplished in a variety or ways, depending on the perceived threat. For example, if the perceived threat were from a technically unsophisticated person with little more than access to commercially available electronics store equipment, the response would be less than if the perceived threat was from an entity with necessary funds to employ an electronics expert. This is true even though almost all electronic eavesdropping is illegal and can result in criminal and civil prosecution.
